Is this the Android version? It is better than this on my iPhone. At least the arrow is > instead of → when the keyboard is open. And when you click the smiley face, it’s showing the exact tab you’re using last time, so if you used emojis last time you clicked this smiley face, this time when you click it you see the emoji screen. As for the GIF tab, it’s a > instead of X, and there are the popular GIFs on top of the search bar so you need not to type and search, but of course you can choose to type and search.
